How I Got Started
Greetings dog lovers! My name is Donna Witt and I have been enthusiastically creating, baking and selling Reba's Healthy Gourmet Doggy Cookies (named after Reba, my beautiful German Shorthair) since 1999. I started from scratch in my home in Clatskanie. Living on a farm I was surrounded by animals of all kinds and was alarmed by all the nasty chemicals and preservatives added to most store-bought pet products, so I began paying special attention to the food I gave to my pets.
I was seeking a career change (I boarded horses for 15 years and yes I made horse treats) and wanted to make a difference by providing fresh, healthful, preservative-free, tasty, organic treats for not only my dog, but for dogs everywhere. Through research, trial and error, and with the help of Reba, my O.C.T.T (Official Canine Taste Tester), the journey began.
Selling Reba's Healthy Gourmet Doggy Cookies brought me to Portland in 2006, where I continue to bake for dogs all over the United States. I have been providing wonderful dog cookies at the Portland Saturday-Sunday market since 2005. I invite everyone to visit me each weekend from March until Christmas. It is a fantastic outdoor market surrounded by exceptional artists offering exquisite handmade treasures and homemade goodies.
